Stephanie Frykholm spiritual midwife garden

WELCOME. 🌺 I’M STEPHANIE.

I’m a spiritual midwife.

My calling is to support women on a path of awakening through practices of mindfulness, embodiment, and writing.

I am committed to helping you bring forth that which longs to be born in and through you.

My vision is that, side by side, we will bring forth our gifts to bless the world.

As your spiritual midwife,
I am by your side to…

  • honor your journey

  • listen deeply

  • guide you to your inner knowing

  • help you create movement where you’re stuck

  • ask questions that bring insight and inspire your creativity

  • help you cultivate practices that root you in authenticity

  • support you as you take courageous steps

The beautiful thing is that as I join you on your journey, you will be joining me on mine.

We are co-creators of life’s unfolding. Let me explain.

my story

Not long ago, rounding the bend at midlife, I heard a call to a new life. The words of Irish poet John O’Donohue spoke to me:

May you have the courage to listen
to the voice of desire
that disturbs you when you have settled
for something safe.

May you have the wisdom to enter
generously into your own unease
to discover the new direction
your longing wants you to take.

This inner stirring was something I could not ignore. I realized that living a bigger life meant making a big change. So I shed possessions, sold my house, said goodbye to family and friends, and moved across the country to an unfamiliar place. While the change felt risky, it also felt enlivening, as an act of trust in life’s unfolding does.

After the settling-in, the days slowed and filled with a pressing question: What would be my work in the world? What shape would my new life take? I watched and waited, in the way that a pregnant woman holds her hand to her belly. I journaled. I walked. I stacked firewood. I thrashed through long nights. I woke with flashes of vision that came and went, came and went. I tested some paths. I second-guessed myself. I prayed for clarity.

Gradually a kind of knowing began to substantiate itself inside me, the way watercolor paint floods across a textured paper, filling in the form. This knowing felt like something real, something I could trust.

Language can be elusive when we want to speak of an interior experience. What I can say is that I recognized my inner Yes, that affirmation that says, This is who you are. This is your calling.

I realized that I didn’t have to strain to find my new place in the world. I didn’t have to fit myself into some prescribed form endorsed by the world “out there.” The call I’d heard was an invitation to simply be me. Believe it or not, this came as a revelation. It felt like a homecoming.

Looking back, I see how my natural role has always been that of a midwife — holding space, listening deeply, asking clarifying questions, opening possibilities. Supporting others at their threshold of becoming

Which is just where I’ll meet you — on your way to your own homecoming. To that moment, lived again and again, when your soul’s Yes reverberates in your very bones, and you know you are safe and sufficient and of exquisite value to the world, just by being you.

When you invite me to your side as your spiritual midwife, I will join you on your journey, as you will be joining me on mine. In this way we become co-creators of life’s unfolding. May our shared path be one of grace and beauty, offering goodness to the world.

Praise for Stephanie
