Write Awake
Women exploring writing as a creative path of awakening
Creative writing experiences designed to help you tame your inner critic, move through resistance, bring forth your voice, and get you writing.
“If you've ever been in the presence of someone who makes room for you to explore, to think, to just relax and be yourself; well, then, you would know what it's like to write in one of Stephanie's workshops. Around Stephanie, we all relaxed into our best selves, and by extension, our best writing selves.”
- K a t e M.
How would it feel to have your voice welcomed, witnessed, and valued — in your writing and in your life?
Imagine if you could…
honor yourself by writing on a regular basis
claim your original voice
develop an intimate trust in yourself as a writer
HAVE YOU EVER HAD THESE GREMLIN THOUGHTS?
I’m not a real writer.
My writing isn’t very good.
Writing is an indulgence.
I’m too busy to write.
I don’t have anything to say.
If so, you are not alone. The good news is that through the very act of writing, you can uproot these limiting beliefs and create a writing life that brings you satisfaction and joy.
I remind you of these truths:
You are innately creative.
The Creative Muse will never abandon you.
Your voice matters.
We start with the first word. The world unfurls from there.
Curious about what a WriteAwake workshop feels like?
Here’s what to look forward to…
We pay attention to how we show up to write.
We engage the aliveness of body, mind, and spirit.
We honor language as it arrives fresh from the creative imagination.
We grow in intimacy with our own creative process.
We write together. We read aloud, honoring each word.
We listen with presence. We celebrate the language that shines.
We practice imperfection, vulnerability, and visibility.
We maintain a sacred circle of confidentiality and mutual respect, detaching from any critical thoughts that arise.
We stay curious.
In WriteAwake circles, we are all about…
enlivening our relationship with the Creative Muse
upholding the intrinsic worth and potency of the feminine voice
writing and living with heightened awareness and intentionality
As writers (and especially as women), it’s so easy for us to make excuses for our writing, to edit our words as fast as they land on the page.
To counter this inner critic, we cultivate a Watcher, a level of consciousness whose job it is to catch us when we slip into conditioned ways of thinking, writing, and behaving that hinder the creative flow and keep us small.
To free the authentic voice, we practice holding a neutral space where our writing is free from labels of good/bad, better/worse.
Our focus is on the creative process rather than on an end product. We are about curiosity and discovery rather than critique.
We explore our inner and outer worlds. We make connections between how we write and how we live.
We laugh. We cry. We belong to a sisterhood of writers.
If this kind of writing experience appeals to you, then I hope you’ll join us.
Currently, I only offer in-person workshops. Please sign up for the newsletter if you’d like to receive notice of future (and possibly online) workshops.

What Women Are Saying

I believe in the deep affirmation and transformation a woman experiences when she tells her story -- and then gives herself permission to voice a new story, one that liberates her with its truth, courage, and passion.
